The Woman Who Does It All

Have you ever read the passage about the Proverbs 31 Woman and got mad at her and closed the book? This may be a surprise to you, but many women don't believe it's possible at all to live the way she lived. All her responsibilities, all the many hats she wore, all the work and all the people she helped... much less being a fantastic wife to her husband and wearing her Mother-of-the-Year crown everyday. All that while keeping her relationship with God on point as well. I must admit, that's a LOT.

Have you ever felt like the woman that has to do it all? Keeping your household together, seeing that each kid gets the attention they need, being the confidant and encourager to your husband, making sure all the bills are paid on time, taking care of extended family, trying to make sure you exercise and eat right, responding to others who need help or a listening ear, church activities, school programs, family time, your personal "quiet moments" with God, planning for your future, dealing with problems as they arise, and trying to figure out how to be your best at your career or calling. Does this sound familiar? And what about when you feel you've got it all together, all your plates are spinning nicely, then one begins to crash, then another.... Do you feel like a failure and that you just can't do this?

My question for your is: Can you have it all? Can you do it all? Is the Proverbs 31 Woman a myth? Is it just a part of Biblical poetry that we are to read and nod our heads and say "good for her?"

What do you do when you're feeling overwhelmed?

Here is one of my favorite scriptures that keeps me grounded when I'm overwhelmed:

PHILIPPIANS 4:13 (The Amplified Bible translation is really powerful): "I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]"
